Gas Inserts & Fireplaces

The biggest question we get is 'what is the difference between an insert and fireplace?'

Inserts are most-commonly used to upgrade an existing stone or brick hearth. They are factory-built to custom dimensions, and are inserted into the hearth of the original fireplace.

Fireplace inserts work by connecting the insert to a liner that goes to the top of the existing flue, and functions in place of the old wood-burning fireplace.

A gas fireplace is unlike an insert, where it does not need to be put into a brick hearth. A gas fireplace can go anywhere in your home and a cabinet and mantel is built around it.

These days, many homeowners don't want the hassle of having to deal with wood or pellet burning units. In this case, a gas insert or fireplace is a better option.
